Assertion: Transitioning to ammonia-powered ships will require a global effort to build ammonia refueling infrastructure at major ports.

Transitioning to ammonia-powered ships will require a global effort to build ammonia refueling infrastructure at major ports. The need for consistent refueling on shipping routes will only increase once ships transition to ammonia because of the fuel’s lower volumetric energy density relative to traditional shipping fuels. Building the infrastructure to support ammonia-powered shipping includes constructing storage facilities, refueling stations, and ensuring the availability of ammonia at strategic ports.1
